This has been the worst 'photo a day' month since records began.

Thank goodness we`ve come away from the aviary !! This is more like it for me.

We used to have an antimacassar on our mantle piece in Scholes, We must have been posh.

Where anon gets his/her taste from, I don't know. There has been some superb pix at all times on this part of the site, the birds have been great. I grew up with this type of kitchen, so much of it is familiar.

Anon
Some people like apples, some people like pears......
What I say is... thank you to the people who take the time to post them

Apart from the range, our house looks like that now! At Christmas we have original 1930s to 1960s decorations, much faded and much loved.

Comment by: jam on 24th March 2010 at 10:25

those dogs on top of the "range" are EXACTLY like the ones my nan used to have. they took pride of place on the mantle!

Give me aviary and nature pics anytime.

I remember the HINDLEY road sign
that was posted on Wigan Road.
Well done Irene, you must have some real quality at home, not like the rubbish made today.

I like some more than others, we all have our favourites, but I'm Thankful to all the people who put pics on here for our pleasure..

The above pic reminds me of my grandmas kitchen..

I'll be honest Colin.....some of it, eg our fireplace, is re-production, but it fits perfectly in our house. The Christmas decorations, however, are all original. Whilst I'm here, I'd like to say I think the bird pics are beautiful, but it's nice to have a change.

Jam, re your gran's pot dogs "on the mantle"...we used to say "on t'cornish", which I suspect was Wigan for "cornice".

The lady, standing, has her hand on the slop-stone,(Sink)and behind the fireplace is our shop front containing Walter Hurst's tools, clogs and more of his memorabilia. E.T.

It's a wonderful place Eric and we certainly enjoyed our visit there browsing the exhibits, you could spend hours looking through all the old photos and manuscripts too. Thank you and all your fellow members for the hard work in setting up the museum.

I think it's a fantastic photo. It has attracted lots of positive comments. I look everyday but don't always leave a comment. The people who send in the photos are to be applauded for their efforts and if not for them there would be no photo-a-day. So well done to all.

Not surprising that "Anon" wishes to remain so. I too am very grateful for all the pics I see on Photo a day.I only wish I were half as talented with my camera.
