Photo-a-Day (Monday, 22nd February, 2010)
Below Wigan's Streets
Probably the most unusual photo featured on Photo-a-Day.
My grandmother, the former Daisy Wood was born here at the old Wigan Girls High School in 1883.
What a brill picture. Where was it shot? Very spooky feel to it.
These photos of the day are getting more interesting and show places you dont normally see.
I have to agree with you Dave. Very unusual.
it sewer is a good pic
That is different.
For a underground tunnel or sewer pipe, it looks very clean..
I'll echo the earlier comments, Stewart.
Thank you for that great photograph :o)
That is a great photo, very errie and claustrophobic i expect, lets not forget the men who built these tunnels and sewers many years ago there workmanship as really stood the test of time.
Sheryl, what were you doing up at 04.49 appart from making this mistake? E.T.
I agree David. Very erie and claustrophopic but very interesting nevertheless. Exactly whereabouts is it though Stewart?
Now that's better. Fantastic photo Stewart where is it and how did you get down there. Great photo
Thanks for the comments. The photo in question was discussed here.

Great picture! I've heard that Wigan has a lot of tunnels underground that are not just for sewerage and that some lead to Haigh Hall???
I used to go through this tunnel as a young lad, it goes under the railway line at Whitley crossing.
To David Barker. Do you know Harold Barker who worked at Dairy Pit, I know him from there, years ago.
Thanks.
That tunnel cant be a sewer ,its got a rubber type floor.Perhaps its comeing from haigh Hall
