Now, THAT is what I call a photo....well done, Stewart. Excellent shot.
Well captured!
Awesome. Look at all that smoke!! Superb
What a fantastic picture of a steam train
I love how he has captured all the steam running alongside the carriages. Fantastic!
These steam train photos, must be very old.I thought steam was a thing of the past,or do thay still have in Wigan.
I can almost smell the steam, as the beautiful engineered Scots Guardsman thunders through Standish.
This is what railways are all about. Superb shot, Stewart.
There are still steam trains in Britain Alby, but they are few and far between. They are used for pleasure trips on certain lines, the one you see in the photographs is probably a one off journey.Perhaps someone who is into steam could explain a little more.
That's a fabulous photo. Well Done.
"Who needs electric and Diesel?"

Roy, you can indeed see steam trains not too far from Wigan, at East Lancashire Railways,Bolton Street Station, Bury Lancashire.

A great day out in summer.
See the notes for my pic of the same run, featured for yesterday, February 15th, for more about this excursion on Saturday last.
Are you related to the Magnum photographer Martin Parr?
I can recommend the East Lancashire Railway for a day out too. The cafe at the Bury station end was just like an old style railway cafe when we went. It was great. And the views from the train were fabulous.
Beautiful machine - wish there were lots more running on our railways instead of those boring, so-called trains of today.
Beautiful nostalgic pictures of trains.Like Colin, I can almost smell the steam. Thanks Stewart.
@David. I wish!
Thanks Roy for putting me on the right track ,now i know whats it all about.Pitty we dont see the steam trains more often.
