Photo: Judith Elsey, age 9 (Fuji Finepix A500)
Thats first time Ive ever seen a street vendor sat down on the job.
Just imagine if the man selling Wigan Evening post at top of Makinson arcade was sat down every time you wanted to buy a paper.
must be expecting rain?brolly up ha ha.
Trying to place where this is.
Is it the top of Standishgate & was W H Smiths where Woolworths used to be ? Then, where you see Debenhams, you went around the road to the Ritz ? Help !!
Spot on Helen....Wish it was still like that !
So do I Bob..
and me....
Nice sharp picture, Judith.
i really like this photo judith, its
very colourful, and you have got a bit of the grand arcade as well.well done.
How many future Wigan marriages started out by a meet at the front of Woolies on a Sunday night? ;-)
I wonder how different my life would have been I hadn't been stood up there one Sunday after a promise of "8 0'clock outside Woolies" after a night in Bluto's ;-)
Anyone remember going down the above mentioned Station Rd on a Saturday morning and going to the ABC Minors and singing this :- We are the boys and girls well known as....the minors of the ABC....and every Saturday all line up etc....What memories !
