Damn shame
I never knew that.
Very sad, again, the changing face of Wigan. I wonder if today's buildings will be standing in 100 years?
They did have a good time last night. Ive heard of raising the roof ?. Still there is a Seven Stars at Standish, lets all go there.
just looked at angers photos what a difference to the dereliction around wigan pubs/baths/town hall/police station to name a few.puts wigan to shame
why do they let it get so bad? surely they could of kept the maintinance up on it, few years time there wil be no original features in wigan, just all new build
It's not about maintenance the place was set alight and badly damaged.
Use to drink in there on my work break in the early 80's from bake house on Pottery Road, another great building soon be gone.
Another traditional pub bites the dust, the thing that I find mystifying is every week the building seems to diminish more & more.
omg there's gonna be nowt left of wigan in a bit such a lovely pub and building wot on earth is goin on at all!!!! no casino either
Sorry Ron D,there isn't a Seven Stars in Standish anymore!
I agree with Zoe...all these beautiful architectural buildings being pulled down is such a shame. I've been looking through the pics of the Wigan library and the Town Hall, even the pubs were lovely to look at and what character these buildings have...so ornate...this type of architecture is irreplaceable and should be preserved at all cost.
There were 2 Seven Stars in Standish. One became the Olive Garden restaurant, and the other renamed as its nickname, the Shamrock. Now sadly boarded up. Don't know if there is a preserve on the building, could end up like the one pictured. Use 'em or lose 'em
