Speckled Holly
Hi Brian, where abouts is this Standish Woods Ln? I do a lot of walking and this seems like a nice route! A change of scenery!!
Elayne it runs from next to St Maries church in Standish down to Beech Hill.
You can also come out at Gidlow cemetery and at the top of Gidlow lane.
Good shot like the archway door and blue paint job.
To have a cottage like that,to me would be a dream, lovely shot.
Elayne, as Mick said next to St Maries on the bad bend. We came out at Boars Head but you can carry on to Beech Hill instead.
At one time, you could drive a vehicle to & past that cottage from SLG.
Up the Old Lane past Evan House Farm & Christopher Park, on coming to the pit railway line, between Giants Hall & Johnpit at Frodsham Farm, cross the line & immediately turn right through the gate. Follow the line towards Beech Hill, about 150yards, the the road turned left up the hill to Speckled Holly & Hiltons Farm.
From there, we used to know the lane as the Red Pad,(due to red shale) up past Daniels' pig farm to Standish water tower.
If coming from SLG, you turn right at Speckled Holly, that takes you straight through to Willow Rd beech Hill, with along the way, a left turn, takes you to Boars Head, then farther down a right turn used to go through Giants Hall Farm, down the track to Giants Hall Rd SLG
my mum lived there .
Mrs Hilton use to live there, I use to pick her Volvo 440 car up and escort van up every year and service and mot them, lovely lady,
