It is uncanny that this photo has appeared. It was only last week that I was in Wigan taking photographs of the wall on the right hand side for my family tree scrapbook. When we were kids in the mid 1950's and fearless,we used to run along the top of the high wall. If you fell off you had the big drop on one side or into the cattle pens of the cattle market on the other. The lower grey wall nearer to the railway line has a cut out in, which we used to hide in when playing hide and seek.

I remember a cow jumping over that wall from the cattle market it was dead and the fall killed it so I suppose it saved them a bullet.

Remember train spotting on the wall on the left hand side.You could see the Blackpool line,the Liverpool line,and the Southport line from there
