Bit of a cheap band stand eh! Dave.

This is NOT the Band Stand, this is the shelter for the Band if it rained. The band stand was a brick circular structure about 3ft high with wrought iron railings round it, it was about 40 yards over to the right on the photo' near to where the small adventure playground is today. This shelter used to have a grey slated roof up to a few years ago when some idiots decided they had a better use for the slates. Leyland Park was my playground before and during the War.Health & Safety men would have had a heart attack if they had seen the thing we called,(The slippy banana.) E.T.

That's a well designed shelter Eric.

Thanks Eric, I didn`t expect it to be a band stand.
