Anyone know when it became Famous? i.e when was Famous added to it`s name?
One of the few hotels in Wigan with a bowling green. Walker Bros (Wigan) Ltd. played in The Wigan Workshops League here in the fifties and was referred to affectionally as `The Ploughed Field`!

It is beautiful building,but must have wigan highest amount of fag ends outside the doorways
Not anymore, the venue is under new management from Dec 2012 and is now a well run, clean and tidy establishment. Has live music every weekend and a warm welcome to all.
The vacant plot of land, which had a row of shops on many years ago, adjacent to the right, is now being built on. Wonder why this is after a very long period of time.
