A handsome young feller, but what on earth is a bodger ?

A Bodger is a pole-lathe turner - making struts and legs for chairs, amongst other things.

Some info here...

I sat and nattered with him a good hour at the open day.He is a lovely lovely man.He made a double ended drumstick for a lady who played irish drums while she waited, and unlike some other stands that day........he didn't charge her a penny.

The man is actually using a draw-knife, not a spoke-shave.( and yes, many people continue to look at the older plctures.
