I used to drink in the Ship in the 60s - I think it sold Almond's bitter.
Looking at this lovely photo from the angle taken,I now know why I am so out of breath when I get to the history shop,after a hike up Standishgate and then over Millgate!
All the `posts` on the pavements in Wigan Town Centre must be `a minefield` to a blind person.

The only recollection I have of miigate ..was having to go and queue up for ration books ..goodness knows where though .
