Lovely photo this was my mum & dads watering hole in the early 50's. They lived at Mere Oaks for a while then moved to Pepper Lane Standish. Arthur & Dorothy Hayes were their names.
Nice to see the Boars Head, brings back fond memories.
Was Mere Oaks close to Boars Head pub Jo?
used to work there for a while late 80's, early 90's.

When I used the Boars Head in the 70s the beer was, I think, Almonds. The brewery was in Standish near the traffic lights.
Dave I lived there when I was 18mnths old I believe it was nearby.I think it may have turned into Mere Oaks special school cheers Jo
Hi Jo, I was born in Wigan but haven't lived there for 30years.Was the brewery in School lane. From Wigan - left at the lights and it was on the right hand side.
mere oaks special shool has gone now, there buildin new houses on the site..
Correct David that's where the brewery was.
