The Cenotaph at Wigan Parish Church restored to its former glory after some scum stole 2 plates.

Glad it has been restored ,Don't these young ones have lessons at school about the \wars if not I think they should

I was born in 1942 and the war was rarely mentioned by adults including school teachers.We still were aware of what the cenotaph represented.The only teacher who made reference to the war when I was 10 years old was a trainee teacher who had experienced the Japanese invasion of her country and told us how one of her young friends had been beheaded for speaking out of turn.It was only at senior school when the teachers began to open up about horrendous experiences.
