This is a picture of my grandfather taken in his army uniform, as a souvenir for his wife and family before he was sent to fight for his King and country in 1914.
His cap badge shows he wasn't in the Manchesters, but I'm not expert enough to identify his Regiment.

Could it be 'The Borders'?
His younger brother William who was killed on the Somme in 1916 after returning from Galipolli was in the Lancashire Fuzilliers
