These ROC Posts are Cold War related.I was at Atherton Post from 1963 until the ROC was stood-down in September 1991. We were all volunteers and classed as uniformed Civil Servants.

The top photo' at Lincoln Post, shows some items of equipment that we used and trained with. Next to my feet is a box for a hand held anemometer,(wind speed indicator) in the foreground is the grey plastic domed cover for the FSM (gave Radiation Fallout readings at the post), a new blue Yamaha battery charger,(for lighting down the post)and the hand operated warning siren lying on the grass, to augment the main town sirens for the local people. Other items we trained to use was the Fall Out Warning Maroons.(Air exploding rockets,(similar to the ones used to call out Lifeboat men) This is not a complete list. E.T.
