I was at the Emp that night, and l remember thinking what a scruffy lot the Stones were, but the music was great, we danced ourselves dizzy, HA HA.
Are you the same Ronnie Carr who played in a band at the Sportsmans Club in Pemberton in the 60's?
There was only one Ronnie Carr. It would be him. I am sure they made a few records. Was one called 'Walking the Dog'?
I remember watching the rolling stones at the ritz, my friends dad que'd for the tickets we were only allowed to go to the 1st performance
Brian Jones was still with them he was my heart throb lololol
I saw the Stones at the Ritz and they were great. I'm sure Ike and Tina Turner were there on the same show. Anyone remember?
yes its me ,the same ronnie who used to play ay the sportsmans club
WOW!! I used to go to the Sportsmans club every Thursday and Sunday night, all the same crowd used to go on these nights. Ronnie, you and your band were so very good, you sang all the latest chart hits at that time and we all had a good dance! My mates and i used to live for those nights, very happy memories indeed of the Sportsmans club.
Re comments by Jim...I saw the Stones at the Ritz too, it was Charlie and Inez Fox who were on the same show, they were an absolute knockout!!!! I still have the ticket stub somewhere ( i wrote on the back of it the names of the artists who performed ) I'll find it and post the names on here, good memories of those gigs at the Ritz, i saw The Beatles there as well.
This brings back memories for me! I should've been taking an exam at Wigan Tech that night and beforehand a girl in the toilets was trying to sell her ticket (hadn't realised it was on the same night as the exam). I bought it from her, (more interesting than the exam in my opinion) and shot off to the Emp. It was absolutely packed out and at least one girl fainted.
Thanks for the pic!
Hi Ron, you might just remember me from the studio with Oggie & Gaz (AKA the cellar) and "Rock-For-Kids" just been talking to Geoff Davies (Negative's) who gave me the link to these photo's, I still keep in touch with Gaz (Porky) but not seen Mitch for a while (Porky - two-of-us), how are you keeping?
Yep,I was there that night ,Stones play on big stage,,was a confirmed fan but ref j/s have got to say that Charlie an Inez Fox who closed the 1st half of Ritz Show,,narrowly stole the show nad thats was from a confirmed fan,,,,
ref beatles at ritz have still got the programme and have got to say that the group tha provided alot of backing that night"Sounds Incorporated"gained a new fan ,,,,but beatles were brilliant ,was sat 4 rows from front and got pellted with jellie babys from back of the audience,,,good days
