I'd also like to say that I can still get that blazer on.
1962 must have been a freak year for such events DK. We also reached the sea at Ainsdale then, despite getting sunburnt and covered in slutch. Few people have ever done this. We will both be able to boast of it in our twilight years.
Excellent Mick! I recall our Deputy Head Mr Rodgers of HAGS, a learned Classics scholar, letting slip one day that his researches had turned up that the Thirteenth Labour of Hercules - the one he failed at - was to bring back a bucket of seawater from Ainsdale Beach.
(What a good word "slutch".)
what wonderful photos these and all your related snaps are dk,browsing through them brought back such memories wouldnt it be great to have them all in one place to look at in the twilight years or the early hours maybe someone could put them all together on a cd/dvd i would buy one. Kermit
Remember going to Ainsdale around '62 in a mini car owned by a family friend. Remember tramping through sandhills trying to find the sea and getting sunburnt, vinegar was the treatment for sunburn in those days.
