JUST GOT OUTBID ON A SIMILAR BADGE ON EBAY. HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS BADGE BEFORE? OR HAS ANYONE GOT ONE?
"A rare original First World War period 1914 gilt and enamel circular badge with title surround 'Wigan War Souvenir Xmas 1914' to the center a symbol of the 'Moot Hall, Wigan, Greater Manchester'. Enamel, gilt finish. Diameter 26mm.
In 1914 an appeal was launched by the Mayor of Wigan, Alderman Grimshaw, so that all the children of Wigan Soldiers whose fathers were away from home fighting for King and Country could be given this badge and 1lb of chocolate on Christmas Eve.
