Little lads never went anywhere without their ‘pey’ cap…my brother always wore his on the side of his head.

Veronica, I, like your brother, wore such a cap for a number of years. It was very useful for hiding my head full of curls which I didn’t like, I would willingly have swopped them for my sister’s straight hair.

I can recall shop owners' cats sunning themselves in the shop window and nobody batted an eyelid!

Ramsden’s fish shop in Scholes had a cat that had the run of the shop. I saw it in the window a few times where the fish was on display. I used to go to Hollingsworth’s instead. ( They were related anyway).
