I have put this on for John (Westhoughton), and I can't believe it has turned out the right way up, as it appeared upside-down on The Album's "upload" system and I have asked if someone could turn it the right way up for me, but it's appeared correctly! I have sent in numerous "tries" and I apologise sincerely if the photo appears a number of times as I didn't think my previous efforts has been "sent". Sorry everyone!

Is that the lovely Dorothy Irene? She is very well maintained! As all upmarket girls are…;o))

You’ll never get to heaven in a Hillman Minx Irene … would you like to know why ?

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 4th July 2024 at 20:34

Yes, that's Dorothy, Veronica. John, (Westhoughton).....Peter says the windscreen rubber and insert are actually off the later "Super Minx" as he couldn't get the original parts. Ozy, now why would I not get to Heaven in a Hillman Minx? Oddly, we get a lot of small children pointing and waving at Dorothy, which surprised me until my hairdresser pointed out that they think it is Harry Potter's car! Harry's was a Ford Anglia but is the same colours as Dorothy so to a small child it would look very similar; it's lovely to see them pointing and waving! Our daughter made us a cushion for the car in blue-and-white gingham, like Dorothy's dress in The Wizard of Oz, and even appliqued "the ruby slippers" onto it.

The old column change gearbox with bench front seat. Tyre size 5/60/15 cross ply rating. 1300 engine, hard to start as did many in the cold Winter months, but the old starting handle came in handy. Lucas electrical systems and Smiths speedometer. Great car in its day.

you should have photographed the full car....pity.

Ozy is your comment related to the bobbies having Hillman Minx cars in the early days as you have me guessing, maybe you would be going to the cop shop.

Your Minx looks in a really good condition Irene, who would think that it's 65 years young. See what you mean with the look of an Anglia, or has Jade Goody would say - Angular.

Irene I’ve tried to post my last 2 classic cars but don’t think I’m getting it right.

John, you wouldn't believe the trouble I had....they kept coming out upside-down or sideways on, or with Dorothy squeezed into a tiny slit surrounded by a blue blur! In the end I just sent it and imagined there would be half-a-dozen photos and that our Wigan World viewers would be cursing me! However, just one photo appeared and it was the right way up....I can only imagine someone in Admin took pity on me!

Irene I posted the photos on PAD as I normally do to Brian adding (cars you wish you’d have kept). Because on the Album were it comes up add photo nothing transpires after following the instructions so unsure which or who to send to.
