I remember Bridie as she worked at Chorley ROF. She also came to the Emp when a few of us went to see Tom Jones.
I used to go to tap dancing classes run by the brother & sister. It was in an upper room /hall in the building next to the Congregational Church, opp the old bus station..Happy Days !
A friend and I went line-dancing at Tommy and Bridie's classes many years ago....Bridie was such an attractive lady and wore some lovely dance-dresses at the classes. Tommy's sister, with whom he ran dancing-classes when he was a younger man, was called Hilda.
I remember a very dapper well dressed person, very smart did he have a disabled hand or lower arm or am l mixing him up with someone else.Used to see him in the market place and commercial yard. Not sure if he used the hairdresser above MacGregor's wallpaper shop.
Wuz, yes, he always wore a black glove on one hand but I don't know what the problem was. I believe he latterly used the hairdresser at the bottom of Hallgate where the buses come in and out of the bus station, Harry Wallwork's, but probably DID go to Commercial Yard until it was demolished.
He was born without a right hand - it says so in the news articles pictured.
