The sub-areas of NORWEB are shown on a map on page 30, I've had a quick scan read of the pamphlet and it seems to be an interesting read.

You're right Jack, fuse wire was often being blown with a bang if a kettle was being switched on when lights and other things was turned on too.

I remember when fuses used to blow - it happened a lot in the old terraced houses. My dad always sent for Albert in the next street he would come with his trilby on his head and armed with a torch. I can see him now fiddling in the cupboard at the side of the fireplace. My dad would give him a few bob for fixing it! The gas meter was at the bottom of the cupboard and the electrics were at the top. We only had gas up to the mid fifties the electricity came later. I don’t think my dad had confidence to mess with the electrics!

I have fuse wire and an old boiler in one house and modern fuses and modem boiler in another . Have a a guess which one causes me grief and which doesn’t !
Even my fridge in my old house talks to me but is still going . The sounds it makes but it plods on happily.
It’s a scam , pushing you to update with everything! If it works leave it ! They tell you if you don’t update your electrics it will blow due to old age , well mine hasn’t lad ! And my fridge still talks to me like a friend !
My upset is they push you to a place of concern and worry - if you don’t do this , this will happen , it will blow or catch fire . They throw you that gamble when in fact it’s for profit !

Circuit breakers have been known to trip-out for no reason too.
If you have the correct amp fuse wire you should have no problems at all. Just like plugs, some are 5 amp some are 13 amp, they all fit, but will blow if not the right amps.
Vehicles are only the same. You can't seriously expect a 5 amp fuse coping with a 20 amp circuit.
Some blow straight away some take a little longer, but eventually will blow.

Most of the time fuses blow because the wrong fuse wire is fitted. I'm a retired domestic electrician, and most of my call out were due to that reason.
Sometimes circuit breakers trip out with a small serge of power without any faults.
