British Railways from 1948, seen at Wigan North Western station a few
years ago on an enthusiasts special journey. This locomotive was named
Princess Elizabeth.
Fab picture Ray.
John, Thank you for your comment. This picture was taken with my 15
year old Nokia mobile phone. Its not a smart phone, just a phone with
a brilliant camera. Cheers, Ray.
I remember getting a Triang electric model train set one Christmas and this was the engine but it was painted black all over.Must have cost my parents a tidy sum in those days when money would have been tight. Thanks for memory Ray.
Today, a new Hornby LMS Princess Royal (Just the locomotive) would cost around £170 a full train set around £240.
In 1970, a new Triang-Hornby Princess Royal would cost around
£4 just for the engine. Not too sure how much a full train set would have cost in 1970, but as Pw says very costly back then and very expensive today.
