How can you describe this?

My first car was a little black moggie,at the time
I couldn't wait to exchange it for another..and now I'd give anything to have it..part of the reg number was MLG..and my father-in-law said it stood for Mo's little galopy.

Is that a dog sat in the driver seat

Comment by: Eddie. on 6th December 2015 at 23:20

Either that, or the dog's taking the photo.

You'd be right if you got stuck in a flood Eddie. I had a Labrador that could get me home from the pub but only if it was an automatic!

Eddie; what year registered? How long did you have it? It`s newer than mine, which had semaphore signals and photo of it is first on same row as yours in Album.

1965 according to the plate Ernest, although I didn't have it from new. I kept it until I could no longer get it through the MOT, then I sold it for 60 quid.It had gone round the clock by then. Notice the half pint of water in the near side headlight.

Can see it was the more expensive two-tone paint job!!

I'm not normally a follower of fashion Derek, but back then, having every door a different colour was considered, in certain circles, ' de rigueur '. Not only that, it helped to confuse the police witnesses.

It's sad really but this little car and many more like it would have been scrapped because of corroded bodywork and chassis, even though they would have been welded many times to get it through the MOT. Today, cars/vans don't have that problem, they are more likely to be scrapped because of an electrical issues.Cars like these had no Air bag warning lights, emisions or other electrical components. The only warning lights on these cars were oil light, dynomo and indicators. But thats progress.

Alan; I only ran out of petrol once and the electric pump sounded like a machine gun!

I hope you didn't have a girl with you Ernie when you ran out of petrol!

This photo brings back so many happy memories as the first car I ever bought in 1975 was a Moggie Minor same colour but "B" Reg, bought it for £45 with 98,000 miles on clock and sold it for £75 with 120,000 miles on clock a few years later.
Never has an ounce of trouble with it and went all over England & Scotland, they don't make them like that any more.
What a little belter.
