Great group "The Searchers" seen them many times, most recently a year ago (2011) at "Bridlington Spa". First saw them in Southport back in 1964 when the line up was Chris Curtis, Mike Pender, John Mcnally and Tony Jackson sadly, Chris and Tony are no longer with us. Mike Pender has his own group and still tours. Frank Allen replaced Tony around 1965. If you get the chance go to see them, they are brilliant, still.
Still going strong. Last saw them at standish high about 10 years ago. Bit of a come down from TOTP's
'Needles and pinzers'!!!!! Last saw them at King George's Hall, Blackburn, along with Chris Montez and some others in the 1980's Not sure if Billy J Cramer was on same bill.A good night, spoiled by the fact that someone broke into my car that night!!!
every time that you....walk in the room i loved that and still do!!!!!!
saw them at the sportman,s club in pemberton a couple of times good night
loved their harmonies but i didnt know they were wiggeners
Tony, you are right, they are not from Wigan but from Liverpool. Originally formed 1959/60, still doing gig's all over UK and Europe. I've been a fan since 1964 and still see them when I can. They have their own website for gig dates and venues.
Do you mean me Josie?
Nice one Gerry!
played at emp int sixtys but diffrant line up cris curtis john mcnally tony jackson mike pinder saw them in australia a couple of years ago with a new line up
Micky, in those days I was a regular at the Sportsman's it was owned by my friend Les Howard, so for me it was a pretty inexpensive night out. The Searchers weren't the only musical greats to appear there, The Caravels, one of whom married the late Brian Mullins of furniture store fame, and many others including Georgie Fame from Leigh.
Last time I saw them was in the 90's in Adelaide in THE BEST OF BRITISH ROCK.A fantastic show
