It comes up very well. Care to give us a bit more of an idea of what we're looking at? Who? What? When? Why? ;-)
Just off the top of my head without consulting my old maps, I would say that that is at the old level crossing at the bottom of Bolton House Road Bickershaw.
This photo is very interesting and may not be as old as it seems. The bike outside the shed is obviously a BSA, but the one inside I,m not sure. Handlebar fairing, front indicators, Italian/japanese front forks, 2 into 1 exaust system and what looks like disc brakes. How late were steam trains running down this atretch of line ?
Steam was still working in 1983 but that was probably its last year.Bill.
In that case, I'd guess the bike is a Honda, probably a CJ250T. circa 1978/79.
I worked on this track in 1982 -84 and 1986 -88 and the 2 metal huts weren't there then
I dont think the photo was taken at Abram North crossing .It was taken higher up ,at the side of the office and shunters hut.
I think it is what we kids used to call Abram Sidings... up by Bickershaw pit. Not too sure of what it's official name is. The steam engine does look like one of the pit shunters that worked there... either Rodney or Hurricane.
Big ta for interest some 8f lads may remember. Both bikes more pics of honda if ok lots of abram if wanted ta walt
big chap looks like Tommy Crook
