This is the battered old tranny that transported the group "Spellbound" for a while. They finally got an old coach and stripped out the interior, after which they toured Germany around the army camps there. At that time the group was composed of Jeff Foster, bass, Gaz Bithell instrumental, Fred Russell rhythm, Tony Booth drums and Colin (I can't remember his last name) on vocals. They broke up after a few years and some of the band reformed as "Whizz Kid" Gaz went to Oz, Jeff drives an HGV and Fred Russell got a job on the Channel Tunnel

I used to drive a transit van for a motor factor firm. Drove all over Yorkshire and Wales and the van never let me down. Cracking machine and fast too. It could hit 100 mph on the roads over't Yorkshire moors. (No motorway)

Transit top speed on clock 80MPH you were lucky to get 68MPH, in those days and that was a V4 petrol engine. The diesel was a perkins, that was even slower.

The tranny I drove was a V4 petrol. It had the added boost of paint thinners in the petrol! Also it was down hill all the way to Huddersfield. The paint thinners did eventually do damage. How was I to know that lead was in petrol for a good reason?...

I had a short wheelbase Transit. It whent like the clappers with its 2 litre engine. Bent needle ont speedo and could even gi it wheelspin! Drove to Devon in mid 70s and wrote it off down a long steep hill.
Must have been doin' the ton as nowt else could catch us. Mates were screaming int back.
Luckily we only came off't road at about 30, but it ruint holiday! Cost us a packet to get back ont train.
Bet rusty vans still int farmers field!
