Looks like the front of the Deltic is passing over a filled in bridge, what was the bridge used for?

I never knew about that bridge, may be it was weak and filled in. This is a question for Winder and Aitch.

That's not a 'Deltic', it's a Class 40, known as Whistlers

According to the 1909 map, there was a bridge with a footpath going under the line in that area. Possibly built to allow the farmer to access his fields on either side of the line.
class 40...D215 re-numbered as 40015 aquitania.great locos

Yes, that is a Class 40 i work for DB and have driven the sole Class 40 on the mainline 40145
