those bikes would be worth a small fortune now in that conditon, notice the clip on handlebars on right hand bike
it,s funny the riders arms where not burnt on the exhaust.
Bob Higham lived at number 31 if I remember right he was only 20 when he was killed on his bike on Manchester Road Ince on 17 Aug 1965. RIP Bob.
I was at Rose Bridge School when Bob Higham was killed so if it were 65 I would be 13 then. I remember the night he died. It was terrible.
My aunty Maggie was married to a Jimmy Sudworth they used to live at 42 Windermere Road Higher Ince, sadly he died in 1968, wonder if its the same one i was only 9 at time.
Great photo, this was taken 10 years before I was born. I thought the riding position on my ZX-6r was extreme until I saw the bars on the right hand bike!!!
Real shame about Bob, I wonder if Jimmy still rides bikes.
Which one is Bob???
Bob Is the one stood up giving a rockers quiff
sorry bout the address but its was Hilton Street Lower Ince,The house in the background was The San Fillipo's who Went to Cambridge outside Totonto Canada in the late 60's,.Next door to them lived Kenny Anderton who's family moved to Leyland and av never heard from him since.
that is my husband in the picture jimmy sudworth.no he is not dead he is alive and kicking.he is the one bent down the bike on the right was hes it was a bonnaville. he spent most of his wages on that bike it was his pride and joy.after bob died he got rid of it.the day bob died he called for jimmy but he wasnt quite ready so bob went to warm his bike up when he had the accident on rose bridge.the picture was outside jack griffiths house it was bob who lived in windleshaw st.
Was this accident relating to a lorry coming out from Rose St and the biker hit the flat bed part.
Tragic story, I was told the story of what happened by someone who witnessed the aftermath, we where only on about it a couple of weeks ago. (I'm a biker myself) Bob is still not forgotten 44 years on.
Bob and Jimmy were always giving us younger lads a scare,we very rarely went near were jimmy lived, they used to throw our pushbikes over the blacky wall and shoot at them with 12 bore shotguns scary at the time but we laugh about it now.one time a few of us were in Bob's house in Windleshaw street and he was messing about with a 12 bore as usual,he said watch this and promptly shot it at the back door blowing a big hole in it u never seen so many lads run and climb over the wall into Delegarte street god know's what his dad said but he was grounded for quite a while, didn't stop him with the guns though,
I remember this accident i was in Rezzano,s cafe on rose bridge with my mate Johnny garrity a wagon was pulling out of the street opposite with a full load and was half way across when the bike came over the bridge it hit the wagon in the middle and the rider was killed instantly the police brought the driver into the cafe he was shaking all over the fire brigade came to clear it all up it was an awfull scene and i,ll never forget it the poor lad on the bike woudn,t have knwn anything about it.
my grandme and grandad (forshaws) lived opposite jack griffiths remember his mum
I lived in Manley St and Bob and Jimmy were the reason my mum wouldnt let me have a bike, 2 great characters
My mum is Lilian Higham (Bobs twin sister)

She would like to thank you all for the comments as it brought back good memories of the awesome duo that were Bob Higham & Jimmy Sudworth.
