This is a brilliant picture, Geoff. I would only have been 8 then, and lived in Ince, but we were moved to Platt Bridge in 1971, and my mam and dad made the Inn their local. We were in on the night your parents left and your dad gave a very moving speech. It will be interesting to see if anyone can supply names.(Hope you've seen this, Dennis Miller!)
Second from end, on the right is Bob Derbyshire. He was in the merchant navy in 1960, so must have been home on leave. He owned the shop (12 Walthew Lane) as a butcher, pre-1959.
THANKS FOR THE COMMENT IRENE;THE NAMES I CAN REMEMBER ARE WILLIE CUNINGHAM FAR RIGHT KENNY INCE; CLIFF REED EMMET CONNAUGHTON (WEARING CAP ); VINCE GIBSON
I have seen it now Irene! :-)
A bit before my time this, I would only have been 2 years old. However, there is a tall bloke at the back with a beaming smile... I know that face, but no way can I put a name to it.
My Dad, Emmett Connaughton, with the cap on, and I think the man in the dark jacket ( centre )just behind the barrel is Harry Vernon who was one of my dads mates.a few other faces seem familiar but cant place their names yet.
