Wigan Album

I have made an arbitrary selection of 3 pictures from the very many great photos on this site and tried to add colour. This is the first one. It shows a Wigan great, Ernie Ashcroft, who played 530 games for the club, scoring 241 tries. His wedding day was, I think, in 1952 and his lovely bride, I believe, was Vera Dean whose parents may have kept the White Crow at Worthington. I always regarded Ernie as a gentleman and my father, who played alongside him, confirmed it. Very sadly Ernie died relatively young aged 60.
