I recognised Father Lappin straight away Veronica. He never changed.
Miss Lennegan is on there as well she taught in the boy’s school. Agnes Bennet from Belvoir St at the back. I do recognise quite a few on there but can’t remember their names. It was the Centenary of the Apparitions Edna.
Thank you for posting Veronica . I like you recognise may faces , including Molly Downs . I've been to Lourdes many times it's always an uplifting experience, I don't know if I'll manage to make the pilgrimage again , I hope I do.
Yes Tom the lady in the front row in the exact middle is a very familiar face. It is a long time ago though. I remember some girls who went at that particular time I would have loved to have gone. I promised myself I would go one day and I have been about 5 times. An uplifting experience if you ignore all those busy shops.
I too visited Lourdes in 2014 as part of my Tour de France cycle race trip. Although I enjoyed the visit I did think the tatty gift shops didn't do the town any favours, more or less as you say Veronica.
Yes I agree Roy there are some very garish shops it’s a bit like Blackpool until you get away from the main streets. It’s also a very historic and holy place in many ways.
Veronica miss lennigan was one of my teachers
at St patricks school for Boys in the late forties but
I can, tell see her on the photograph, can you help.
Yes Eddie - Miss Lennegan is on the 3rd row up and third lady on the left. She was my teacher as well in 1956. My class was the first class of girls to go to the boy’s school.
I believe she is/was aunt to the two brothers Lennegans , one who has something to do with football in Wigan.
V, that would be Ian Lenagan.
That’s right Roy, I was at a school reunion and he was there I remember talking to him. His younger brother was in my year at school. He seemed a very nice chap.
Thank you very much Veronica, for telling where she was on the photograph, referring to the lennigan brothers, tony and Ian they where in a class lower than myself, tony died very young and Ian became
Very big in business, and became chairman of wigan rugby club.
I think Miss Dickinson is to the left of Miss Lennegan. She was the teacher for the “Baby’s “ class in the Boy’ s school. If I’m not mistaken her first name was Mamie. A good name for the infant’s teacher! ;o))
I wonder if my mum's friend Rita was on this pilgrimage. She lived on Caroline Street Ince and I think her surname was Bithell
