I hope you don’t mind me saying Kevin your grt grandfather reminds me of Mr Grimsdale. Norman Wisdom’s erstwhile boss in a couple of his films. I loved those films. He was also a brilliant serious actor as well.
Currently researching family tree and we have a link to a Thomas Green living in Hindley till b1905 d1970. Do we share a relative?

My great grandad was born 22 July 1908 & died 6 April 1971,
He lived in Aspull
His parents were Enoch Green 1874 - 1913 & Elizabeth Johnson 1874 - 1954.
I've uploaded picture of my 2nd great gran Elizabeth Green
I've also done my family tree and tested DNA on all the testing sites.
