This appears to be the 26th Earl of Crawford & Balcarres. However, he died in 1913 so it seems a little late for an obituary?! :-)

The only reason I think that is because I’m pretty sure the article was the 1920s.

The following inscription was on the oak casket :-
“James Ludovic Lindsay.
XXVI. Earl of Crawford,
IX. Earl of Balcarres.
1847-1913."

I have checked the article and it was correct that he died in 1913 it was the book the article was in what I was thinking of that said from 1912-1921.
