Quite an interesting read Ron, I do remember those postmark franking's another one was 'Modern Wigan has no Peer'. At the time I did think it was an excellent way to promote Wigan as being a modern a place as anywhere, especially with many folks then still having in mind the Music Hall jokes of Wigan being a squalid backwater along with men wearing flat caps and walking whippets. Well done to those who thought up the postmarks.
