Veronica , a beautiful photograph. I recognise many faces in the photograph .Jack and Marie Forshaw among them ,wonderful couple.
More than half are dead now on that photo Tom. My last count was 16. Did you recognise Kitty Coalhole ? ;>))
Kitty was a Penman has well , I don’t know if she was related to the other Penmans .
Oh my word, Veronica....what a fabulous 1960s wedding photo! Or maybe early 1970s? Anyway, it's lovely! Unfortunately I don't know anyone but I had an Uncle with the name of Catterall from Hindley.
1969 Irene, we could be related yet. There were Catterall’s in Ince in Ince who were related, through my grandfather.
recognise my Nan at the far back.
Veronica, it's lovely to see this wedding photo.I can see Agnes and Leonard on the right, brings memories back.xx
I thought you would notice your Grt Grandma Daniel and your other Grt Grandma with the big hat. Also your Grandma and Grandad… behind me.
Yes Edna that’s Agnes and Leonard.
(by the way I have lost a lot of email contacts and yours is one )
My Grandad said there was Joe and Nellie on there as well also my grt grandma sisters Irene and Lilian.
Yes Joe and Nellie Corner, Gordon Roach, Irene’s husband and Janet on the end with her young brother . Also Bridesmaid Theresa Forshaw at the front. Quite a few passed away by now.
Veronica, who’s the lady in between my grandparents. I can’t seem to recognise who it is.
It’s Kitty Penman alias ‘Kitty Coalhole’.
I wrote a story in Past Forward and mentioned about what she said to the Rentman. Her mother told her to tell the Rent man that she wasn’t in and he asked her “ Where is your Mam.” And she replied she was in the Coalhole - hiding! Ask your Granddad about her when she came to our house Daniel. She worked in the mill with Nan Cat ….
Thanks, If it’s the article about the Catterall’s then I think I’ve got a copy, I’ll look for that name. If I’m right in thinking the penmans lived at the bottom of John street.
