The photograph probably taken in the 1920s. She lived in a street off Manchester Road, Ince. I believe the street has long since gone. All I remember, as I was a child on her demise. There was a pub on its corner, with Manchester Road named the Shovel&Broom.

Sorry. My mistake. The heading should read Mrs Jackson, my grandmother. The grey matter is getting a bit weary.

My uncle was the landlord of the Shovel And Broom although this was in the late fifties and sixties.

Having had another think about it, I think the name of the street could have been Bolton Street.

You have nailed it Winnie. Thank you. This was my grandmother . I had forgotten that her name was Cicely, the same as my mother. My mother was born in 1911. She was married in 1931. As my grand mother died in 1936, I was born in 1934., so I would only have been two years old, when my grandmother died. When it was my parent’s silver wedding in 1956, I was stationed in Germany. I was fortunate to get greetings sent to them on Forces Family Favourites, and a tune they both liked. ‘Blue Tango’ Le roy Anderson. (Message sent to them over the radio. ‘ As the future years unfold, may your silver turn to gold.’ ) Unfortunately thing didn’t turn out that way.

This is my Maternal Grandmother. I am the youngest daughter of Mary E Jackson, Cicely's 3rd child. I was born in 1944 and married in 1970.
Thank you Albert for the photo.

Anne. Are you the sister of Alice, who lived at Standish?. Did you come up on messenger asking to be my friend. As I get numerous spam ones, I deleted it. I have looked on messenger to restore it, but there are so many named Brown that I found it difficult. If you still wish to, please try again.
