Appears they had won some sort of competition No idea of who the other people are?
Notice the PROPER scout hats...
They sure look sharp! And most are smiling! Probably a lot of fun being a scout!
During the Summer Shows in Mesnes Park the scouts would do displays, I remember once when I was there with my friend and his parents, (because his older brother was a scout) a type of zip wire using ropes had been set up, and it did look to be fun Cloie, unfortunately we wasn't allowed to have a go on it.
I was told why those campaign hats were worn, but I'd forgotten, having looked it up, it's because with them being outside the wide brim on the hat gave the wearer protection from both the sun and the rain, also the hat was favoured by Baden Powell.
Good photo of your dad Ron, lovely to look back on, for you and your family. I bet he learned a few skills, as they did in those groups. The lady on the left reminds me of Sheila Hancock.
My mother was a Girl Guide leader when my parents lived in India, the guide troup was called The Bluebirds, think I posted a pic WW/ people/Bradshaws.
Great pic to have Ron.
My dad and the other scout on the middle row have a badge on their hats. Maybe it signified some rank i.e. Leader? Don't you wish you had asked more questions..
