I must admit I don't know whether to smile or cry over these photos of Ernie. They've moved me more than I can say.
how did you know him ozzy ? .
Them two pints of milk should be in the fridge
Ozy, brilliant pic, thanks for the memory it generates of an old chap I knew in Aspull, his living room was very much like this. wouldn't it be great if it could be preserved for future generations to look at, or better still be moved to a museum perhaps. God Bless old Ernie.
Brought up in the next street Brian. Spent a lot of time up at the farm.
which street ozzy . do i know you ? .did you know my mate colin heyes ? .
Bert knows me Brian.
....Walt, coming from Aspull, you'll no doubt remember Fred Rose's old place.
It looks like Ernie didn't have a fridge, two bottles of milk on the table.
When I was growing up in the 50s mother used to put milk bottles in a bucket of cold water.
Great PIC of old Ernie.
Aye Ozy, remember Fred Rose's very well, those beautiful ERF 8 leggers slogging away up Ivy Brow and then Scot lane loaded with 57 stuff. Steam escaping from the cap on top of the radiator. Some were that slow we passed them on our bikes when we were kids.
Did you ever work out of the Sherburn RDC Walt ?....just curious.
Ozy ,Walt worked with owd steam wagons.at Bryn.we managed to get him moved into Yorkshire.
Kwikies was always a good tip for us bert. Bryn, Prestatyn, Sherburn and even that place down in Brum. Never any hanging about. Good sets of lads in all of them.
