Hello Paul,
In those days having your photo taken was a major event.
I would image they prepared for it for a couple days.
Alice is indicated in the 1901 census as a school teacher.

i know sometimes the photographer had clothes that people borrowed thats why a lot of the pictures look alike not saying this is the case here though brilliant photo

Are their parents Richard and Jane Martland? Are some of the sisters Sarah Ellen, Beattie, Maggie, Ginnie, Florrie?
