Top right:- My sister, brother-in-law and nephew.
My father was a centre lathe turner - he started as an apprentice at Walker Bros.- but had several other jobs.
He was a motor mechanic at Cowburn`s Mineral Water`s, Heeley St., which was behind were the Brocket Arms in Mesnes Road is now. The Economic Laundry was next door, where my mother worked for a short time. Wonder how many remember them.
He was a chaffeur for R.B. Green of Greens Butcher`s, Wigan Market, for 9 years.
He last worked at Leyland Motor`s turning the back axles for Leyland trucks.

Mick, I have Mr.R.B.Green`s letter dated 14th July 1936 that he wrote as a reference for my father.
The address, below his signature, is: Lancaster House, Upper Dicconson St., Wigan.
My father was born on 27th September 1899 so was 36 years old when this letter was written.
