Great photo. Love the cosy living room - none of the minimalistic rubbish of today.
The room does look cosy, as lounges/living rooms did in this period. Look at that splendid piece of furniture, the grain looks like maple or burr walnut.
It is walnut, which species, I don't know; my father ruined it by cutting off the back part that housed the mirrors and shelves. It could be a piece from the 20's or 30's (a guess); my first thoughts of it were at my grandmother's house during the final eighteen months of the war.
Hi Peter do you know where he is now?
No Ron, I am hoping these pics. will get some results.
Hi Peter if you send me details of his age, where he lived, school he attended, other family members names etc.I'll see what I can find . There are people on the site who don't look at the these pics. I'll put something on the other topics. You can e.mail me any details you have to ron@wiganworld.co.uk
Thank You Ron, I shall have to get some of the details you mention, so it could be over the week-end when I forward them. I have noticed that there must be some that don't look on W.W., one only needs to look at the pic. of Standish Grammar and all those Fathers where only one is recognised.
Went to St Marie's Standish, lived in Rivington Place (I think), Standish before moving to Coppull, aged 7, when my father left Chadwicks the butchers to work at Leyland Motors. I went on to Preston Catholic College and then Manchester University
