Hi Fred.
I was born in School St in 1950. I also have a few pics of me and my sister in the street. The house I was born in was one up / one down ! Good old days eh?
When we got married, our first house was a 2up and 2down but it had been converted from 2 blind backs, ie 1up and and 1 down. The bricked up doorway was plainly visible on the gable end..
Hi ,John,I was born in number 66,what is the B for,do I know you?

Hello again Fred. I was born at number 72. Our family moved to Goose Green in Jan 1954, so I remember very little about Scholes, apart from my visits to my Grandma's (who also lived in School st) at walking days etc. I remember the house itself though - me and my sister used to call it the 'black house' as it always seemed dim inside. My surname by the way is Brown. My Grandma's surname was Carter, maybe you know that name?
thanks fred, your mother was a very good seamstress your hat and coat look very well made.
Your mum was probably saying "now stand still, and dont fidget". And you were probably thinking "no problem.. as if I can move in these new shoes, 2 sizes too big and all - grow into them you reckon!"
love it!! :)
