Another view of the 47 diesel hitched up to the electric unit. Its possible it hadn't broken down as such but was being redirected through Ince. (No overhead electrics) At the time there were problems on the main coast line. (Nothing changes!)
Thankfully the electric loco has been preserved by the AC Loco Group (google 'em), it still earns its keep pre-heating carriages in London from time to time...
good to see that this loco is named after our REAL county (none of this 'GM' nonsense here please!)
