John Horrocks, I think he was once the truant officer for Ince Council

Only know two people on here, John Horrocks who lived on Rose St, he and his wife were a wonderful couple. When I worked on the council and had to go to his home you always got a cup of tea and a selection of cakes to try, his wife was an avid baker and was always trying out different recipes and so would welcome any comments. The other is Mr Charman who lived on Christopher St, his son Brian is married to my cousin Joan. My supervisor at the time would call him by the name of what I thought was Jack I must have misheard as according to his initial it must have been Zac. Thanks Rev Long for putting these photos of Ince on as they are quite interesting.

I worked at Hindley Education Office with John Horrocks and he was a lovely man. Very kind and funny. Went to many a Christmas party at his house and was made very welcome.

I think the 1st person on the middle row could be Walter Carney, went on to work in the Housing Dept of the new Wigan Metro and is now a councillor.

second left front row is robert taylor; known as bob taylor my late uncle who lived in marlborough cres ince and was chairman of i.u.d.c. he was a ambulance driver.

3rd left on back row is another sharples brother (jack or tommy?), top right is brian clarke (deputy treasurer0 and next to him i think is alan cale (deputy clerk), mr "rawlinson" is arthur rowlandson who lived att 221 ince green lane. middle left is walter carney. and i guess dorothy harrison lived at cemetery road when we were along the road at cemetery lodge. i used to collect her coupon!!!
