Although this photo is probably not that old, it shows the old Vulcan Works opposite the ambulance station. Note the absence of the now infamous bus lane.

Probably 1960s or possibly early 1970s, Wigan Corporation buse were phased out from 1974.
John,
was born on Pottery road and was brought up in the potteries. remember the vulcanite works, used to manufacture roof felt.you don,t have any more photographs of the area by any chance.would love to see them.
