Wigan Album

circa 1982 evening view over Wigan taken from the canal bank at the foot of the Rabbit Rocks. Whelley is away to the right and the loop line has now become a footpath.
The water in the near ground is usually only there now in flood but is marked on old maps as a pond and is on the route of Clarington Brook which makes its way under the railway embankment here. The ponds further over were regular perch fishing adventures for us.
