Derek you are just past Finney fields bridge, if you went to the iron bridge and over it, you went through Rigbys farm and came out at the Dover Locks.
The slag heap in the background is Golbourne colliery

Just wanted to say a big thank you for these wonderful pictures. My Grandad was from Stubshie and he used to take us walking over the Iron Bridge. I have been looking for a picture of it for years. I have just come back from a fantastic walk around Bryn Gates to Landgate, it was great to get awayd from all the traffic. Wigan Council are not going to put a road through it all are they?
As we get older I think we need this kind of reminder that these things actually took place, i.e. standing within "touching distance" of a steam train as it rushed by, a great photo.
