1940s looking at the road & truck
Ican remember cycling down Parbold Hill in The 50's when the cobbles shook every bone in your body.
I can remember cycling (actually pushing my bike) up Parbold Hill in the very late 1950s, it was a tar sealed road then.
Bet that truck struggled when it came back up the hill.
My Uncle John Waddington ran the Cafe at the top of the hill.
My Aunt Mabel married Tom Cook who ran a garage at the bottom of the hill.
That was in 1963, I was eight.
Tommy Cook used to give me and my brother Murray Mints to share when we called into the garage for petrol with Dad!!
Does anyone Remember the Reece's Dairies milk van which served most of the village in the early fifties ?
M y father Bert Ormerod knew most of the locals
his round st arting inScarisbrick Burscogh Parbold finishing at Parbold h ill cafe , we knew the Delph tea gardens well! Does anyone remember the Wigan boys camp another one of his calls.
