Old aerial photo of Mesnes Park. Note the lack of housing on Dicconson Street to the left of the photo.

This must pre date the rose garden in the area top right. The area had very sad reference for me when I was delving into my family past.

The 1907 O.S. map shows tennis courts in the top right off the photo.

The 1908 O.S.map has the innitial fn by the ircle to the left of the bandstand Tony.I take this to be 'fountain'.

What an interesting photograph - I spent many hours there in the 50s as a child and never new there had been fountains there. What a shame they and the statue of the Boer War soldier were ever removed.

Does anyone know what is in the bottom left hand corner?

I believe what you can see at the bottom left of the photo is the swings.

Picture of the swings here.
